We started reading Jesus Storybook Bible to our oldest daughter when she was around three. She’s almost six now, and proudly carries it with her each Sunday as her Bible. She might be playing with it more than she’s reading it because the binding broke on it this past week. None the less, it’s so fun watching her take ownership of a book that was gifted to her when she was baby. Both of our daughters were gifted the Jesus Storybook Bible the day they were dedicated to the church, and we’ve been in love ever since.
(Sidenote, can you believe that’s Selah when she was a baby? This was her baby dedication day. There’s her JSB. 🙂 )
Each year our family celebrates Advent together as a family. In previous years, we’ve read the Jesse Tree Book together, which has been great. This year, since our oldest is eager to learn from her Jesus Storybook Bible, I wanted to find a way to incorporate it into our Advent reading plan. Thankfully, it worked out perfectly! There are twenty-four stories that lead up to the birth of Jesus.
Below is reading plan our family will be using this year with our Jesus Storybook Bible. If you’re looking for fun activity ideas for Advent this year, make sure to read here.
